Gore CES Grant – Union County Extension Teaching Garden – Update the landscaping of the Extension Teaching Garden to make sunny areas more accessible to the public, education partners, and NC Extension Master Gardener Volunteers with physical disabilities.
Currituck County Extension Office
Gore CES Grant – Currituck County Wildflower Plot – Establish at least one large-scale wildflower plot to provide education to the public of Currituck County on wildlife preservation, native plant maintenance, and the importance of pollinators.
Remi Ham – NC State University
Gore CES Grant – Mobile Cooking Carts – Create mobile cooking carts and online resources to help educators integrate food, nutrition, cooking, and taste testing into the K-12 classrooms through hands-on engagement.
Christopher Just – Henderson County
Gore CES Grant – Farmworker Fair – Provide additional funding for the 2024 Farmworker Fair, a community event for local farmers and their families that connects them to local health and safety resources.
Stephanie Kulesza – NC State University
Gore CES Grant – Nutrient Management Training – Cover costs for Extension agents to receive nutrient management training and become certified to write animal waste management plans.
Lauren Langley – Alamance County
NC CES Innovation Grant – Alamance County 4-H Youth Livestock Program – Purchase sheep, goat and beef cattle lab learning kits in support of the Alamance County 4-H Livestock Program.
Morgan Marshall – NC State University
NC CES Innovation Grant – EMFV – Volunteer Binders – Provide funding to create training materials for the Extension Master Food Volunteer program to disseminate to Extension agents around the state.
Katherine McKee – NC State University
NC CES Innovation Grant – Climate SMART Leadership – Hold in-person trainings for extension professionals and Micro-, Small-, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) farmers to help them engage in Climate-Smart and Climate-Resilient decision making for technology use.
Bailee Sheffield – Caswell County
NC CES Innovation Grant – Poultry Processing – Host in-person and virtual workshops and training sessions on how to efficiently and effectively process poultry to support food safety and sustainability within the growing poultry industry in Caswell and Rockingham Counties.
Greg Traywick – Cleveland County
NC CES Innovation Grant – Cleveland County 4-H Classroom Embryology – Provide high-quality, dependable and durable incubators and other brooder supplies needed to grow the existing 4-H Classroom Embryology Project in Cleveland County.
Kelly Tyndall – Lenoir County
NC CES Innovation Grant – Lenoir County Children’s Garden – Provide materials for a mobile kitchen as part of a farm-to-table education project with the Children’s Garden, centered on addressing food insecurity and supporting the physical and mental well-being of Lenoir County youth.
