The IM Advisory Committee for Area 2 met on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 2 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Adrian Gaskins area agent, information management.

Committee members attending via Zoom web conferencing were Gina Britton, Patricia Burch, Tiff Conrad, Lisa Forrest, Regina Gardner, Jackie Helton, Blake Sandlin, Phyllis Smith, and Candy Underwood. Absent were Missy Jernigan, Tammy Kelly, Bill Stone, Jody Terry, and Randy Wood, who had programming and administrative schedule conflicts.

After delineating the 31 counties he serves, Gaskins introduced all the 2017 committee members. First, he introduced the 8 veteran members, and then he introduced the 9 new committee members. The committee includes employees from a variety of backgrounds representing many facets of county Extension work.

Next, Gaskins informed committee members of his 2017 activities and accomplishments to date. He outlined the classes he’s taught, his work with Ask an Expert, his efforts to provide tech orientation for new hires, and the counties he’s visited. He noted that much of his efforts in 2017 involved getting employees and retirees enrolled in 2-Factor Authentication before the October 31 deadline; he listed the conferences and meetings he has attended in 2017 to help with 2fA enrollments. Gaskins also told committee members about his professional development activities in 2017 and his participation in team efforts at the Lenoir County Center and across the state.

After his presentation, Gaskins solicited comments, suggestions, and announcements from committee members.

Helton told that group about 4-H Online, a software program that will be used to collect and tabulate 4-H enrollment and participation data.

Conrad told committee members about Cvent, an online registration and event management software program that has been piloted in Richmond County.

Once discussion concluded, Gaskins reminded members about the next advisory committee meeting, to be held on Wednesday, December 6, at 9:30 a.m. He then thanked committee members for their support, and he adjourned the meeting.
