Who We Are
North Carolina Cooperative Extension is a strategic partnership comprising NC State University, N.C. A&T State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA), and 101 local governments statewide.
Our Collective Mission
N.C. Cooperative Extension partners with communities to deliver education and technology that enrich the lives, land and economy of North Carolina. In short, we improve the lives of North Carolinians and grow our state.
Our primary marketing goal is to promote the growth and ongoing success of Extension, which involves building awareness statewide – who we are, what we do and why people should care.

Building brand identity is how we grow Extension, and how we grow North Carolina.
When people experience firsthand the benefits of Extension, we build trust and value, which stands to elevate everyone who is part of our family. Without clear and consistent branding, that trust and brand value often remains isolated or fragmented, and does little to grow our overall identity and sustainability.
Putting forth a consistent identity and a unified presence will make the N.C. Cooperative Extension brand strong and recognizable.
Our success in creating prosperity for every community in North Carolina is contingent upon how well we all understand the principles and standards of the brand – and how consistently we apply them. There’s great power when many share a consistent voice.
