Extension Organizational Development (EOD) is excited to announce that a new digital badging program is coming in July. EOD is in the process of approving a contract with Credly by Pearson to launch a new digital badging program online. This was initially shared with our EOD Advisory Council at our winter quarterly meeting and received support from our Advisory Council members as a way to add more value to our professional development opportunities and to recognize our employees, especially mentors.

Our idea for a digital badging program for Extension Organizational Development came out of the digital badges currently being issued through NC State’s Wolfpack Wellness badge program through University Human Resources. Several badges are already being offered, including the NC State Wellness Champion digital badge and Wolfpack Wellness digital badge. These have been successful in enhancing a culture of wellness for the university.

Our goal and vision for our digital badging program would be to provide digital badges for relevant conferences, programs, and training. Some initial digital badges we envision include:

  • Employee Onboarding
  • Mentoring Program
  • New CED Training
  • Skills for Success Training

In addition, our goal/plan would be to make our digital badging program available to all departments and units across Extension, such as EFNEP, Master Gardeners, etc. More specific information about our digital badging program will be shared in our next quarterly newsletter.
