Could your Extension team use some help in working more effectively together? Are you searching for something different and fun for your Extension team?

If so, Extension Organizational Development is here to serve your Extension team through custom professional development and training opportunities!

Over the past year, EOD has worked with a handful of County Extension Teams to provide custom professional development and training. These have included some County Extension strategic planning, including a CliftonStrengths assessment of team members and training on how to utilize everyone’s strengths more effectively, as well as the development of core values, a team vision, SMART goals, and objectives that align with NC State Extension’s new strategic plan.

In addition, we helped with a Staff Professional Development Day for our Edgecombe County Extension Team at the Plant Sciences Building on NC State University’s Centennial Campus, which included a behind the scenes tour of the Plant Sciences Building, a team building activity, and a CliftonStrengths assessment and training.

The following training opportunities are available through EOD and our campus partners:

  • CliftonStrengths Online Talent Assessment (offered through CALS and Extension HR) – This is a great opportunity to assess the strengths of everyone on your team and learn how to utilize those strengths to improve your team’s performance.
  • FISH! Philosophy – Learn about the four practices of the FISH! Philosophy (Be There, Play, Make Their Day, Choose Your Attitude) to help improve engagement, retention, and the morale of your team.
  • Real Colors – Real Colors® is a dynamic workshop experience using the Real Colors Personality Type Test: a user-friendly, intuitive tool that identifies four personality types common to all people—Gold, Green, Blue, and Orange. The goal is to provide participants with the skills to:
    • understand human behavior
    • uncover motivators specific to each temperament
    • improve communication with others
  • Strategic Planning – Work with our EOD team to develop a strategic plan for your team’s future. Strategic planning work includes:
    • Start/Stop/Continue Exercise
    • Developing and Stating Core Values
    • Developing and Establishing a Vision
    • Developing SMART Goals and Objectives
  • Team Building – From icebreakers and name games, to group initiatives, to trust exercises, we can offer a wide variety of activities customized to meet the goals and needs of your team.

No funding or time for travel, no problem! We can come to you. For several of our County Extension Team retreats, we utilized the facilities of our local North Carolina State Parks in their counties.

If this sounds like something your Extension team could benefit from, please reach out to us to begin a conversation. We have a few strategic planning sessions and team retreats scheduled for 2024 with some of our teams, but we would be happy to schedule a day with your Extension team.

For more information or to schedule your custom training, please contact Dave Herpy, EOD Coordinator, at 919-515-3387 or via email djherpy@ncsu.edu.

We look forward to serving you and your team!
