Austin Brown

The North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Camden County Center is excited to share that Austin Brown has been named new County Extension Director (CED). Austin has served as the Camden County Agriculture Agent since 2016 and will continue serving in this role.

Austin is a native of Gates County. He received his bachelor’s degree from NC State University in Plant and Soil Science with a concentration in Crop Production. He also holds a master’s degree in Crop and Soil Environmental Science from Virginia Tech. He achieved his title promotion in 2019 making him eligible for the director position.

“I am passionate about the work Extension is currently doing in Camden and am excited about the potential that Extension has to further enhance the lives of Camden County citizens. I am grateful for this opportunity, and look forward to further serving the people of Camden County in this capacity,” shared Austin.

Cameron Lowe, Currituck County CED and former Camden CED stated, “I am extraordinarily proud of the job that Austin has done as an agriculture agent and am confident that he possesses the expertise, humility, and motivation to handle the additional administrative duties with ease. It has been my pleasure to serve the staff and citizens of Camden County for the past seven years. I am overwhelmingly confident that I am leaving the program in very capable hands.”

Austin began his directorial duties on February 3, 2020. He will be responsible for overseeing the staff and programs for the entire Extension program in Camden County as well as serving as the liaison between county government and NC State University. He will also continue to offer the outstanding agriculture programs and consultations he has become known for in the past four years.
