On October 8, 2019, Hailey Post, a first-semester Graduate Student in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management (PRTM) received the John and Joan Markham Marketing Award from the Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA). This award recognizes Hailey’s current and future leadership potential in the tourism industry and includes complimentary conference registration to the 2019 Marketing Outlook Forum (MOF). She received the award from John Markham (pictured below with Hailey) for her submission titled “Marketing the Authentic Experience.”

This year, TTRA, an international organization for professionals in travel and tourism research, held the MOF in Bethesda, MD. MOF is the leading travel and tourism industry forecasting event, providing industry professionals from across the United States with opportunities to network and participate in educational programs. MOF brings together leaders from Destination Marketing Organizations, State Travel Offices, Research Professionals, and many more. MOF offers industry professionals a meaningful space to gain insights and knowledge for continual success. By attending MOF, Hailey had the opportunity to network with industry professionals as well as fellow emerging tourism leaders and broaden her knowledge of growing marketing trends.

Hailey is from Greensboro, NC, and earned her Bachelors in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Hailey’s passion for sustainable tourism research and dedication to lead positive change in the tourism industry led her to pursue her Master’s in PRTM from NC State University. Hailey’s research interests focus on strategic tourism advocacy planning and effective community engagement.
